Updated Bioeconomy Strategy

The European Commission has published an updated action plan for development of sustainable and circular bioeconomy, which will contribute to strengthening the connection between economy, society and the environment in Europe. The creation of the sustainable circular bioeconomy must be shared by the public and private sector.
The Commission aims to introduce 14 specific measures in 2019, focusing on three main objectives:

    • to expand and strengthen the biotechnology-based sector,
    • to expand bio-economy across Europe and to protect the ecosystem and
    • to understand the ecological constraints of bio-economics.

The action plan is a part of the updated Bioeconomy Strategy for sustainable Europe “Research and Innovation A sustainable bioeconomy for Europe: strengthening the connection between economy, society and the environment“, which will be presented by the European Commission on the conference „Sustainable and circular Bioeconomy, the European way“.
The strategy aims on accelerating the introduction of a sustainable European bio-economy in order to contribute to the Agenda 2030 and to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
