Success of the Czech company Dronetag was supported by ESA Technology Broker

Dronetag, s.r.o. approached ESA Technology Brokers, which is in CR represented by Technology Centre Prague, with a request for a technology solution for a Remote Identification Device (RID) that could enhance airspace safety for drones. In the drone domain, the problems of insufficient RID data reception on mobile devices and vulnerability to spoofing (signal forgery) are major challenges. It is these challenges that the newly developed device the company has been working on should solve. Brokers connected the Dronetag with the Czech Technical University (CTU), which provided the company with expertise in satellite communications security.

The result of the cooperation is the Dronetag RIDER device. This breakthrough system, supported by ESA Spark Fudnig funding, addresses both of these key issues. Dronetag RIDER is designed to receive 99% of all RID messages transmitted and provide users with reliable situational awareness, making airspace more safe. This collaboration has made Dronetag a market leader in remote drone identification technology and has attracted the interest of more than 30 partners from around the world.

The Technology Center Prague has been cooperating with ESA (European Space Agency) since 2015. The project aims to create added value and strengthen European industry by developing cooperation between space organisations and the non-space industry through mutual technology transfer.
